In 2026 I was commissioned by electronic music duo Michael Milano & Zeker to create single artwork for two releases on Missing Brontosaurus Records. The brief called for a unified visual identity across both covers: abstract, sophisticated, and with enough personality to stand on its own in a crowded streaming landscape.

Overview
/Challenge
Each track presented its own creative puzzle. For Grind, the duo shared AI-generated concepts as a loose reference point (mostly liquid metallic forms) and asked for something that felt different but equally abstract. For Voicemail, the primary constraint was palette consistency with Grind; beyond that, creative direction was entirely mine to define.
/Solution
For Grind, I turned to Illustrator's blend function, experimenting with layered line formations until I found a composition with a natural, almost hypnotic flow. The organic ribbon form that emerged felt true to the energy of the track; kinetic but controlled. Careful attention to negative space let the typography breathe and reinforced a clean visual hierarchy without competing with the illustration.
For Voicemail, I wanted to bring the warmth of something analog into contact with something slightly destabilized, a rotary telephone rendered in fine engraving-style linework, then pushed into glitch territory. I sourced a reference image, used AI to introduce a dithered texture, then worked manually to shift the color palette into alignment with Grind and warp select zones of the linework to heighten the sense of signal interference. The result sits somewhere between nostalgia and disorientation.
